When you're not decoratin' your digits
with Montana sapphires from Gem Mountain, there's plenty to do
around this part of Montana.

When you're ready to rest your bones, you can share some of the
most beautiful camping spots in Montana with elk, moose, and
deer (bears are rare).
Fish for troutthem Rainbow trout are as pretty as Montana
sapphires and almost as plentiful. As well as being the world's
best source for sapphires, the Rock Creek area is renowned as
a blue-ribbon trout stream.
Visit the nearby Skalkaho Falls only a few miles west from our
parking corral. The large waterfalls glitter in the summer sun,
almost as brightly as our sapphires.
Past the falls, you can drive west over Skalkaho Pass down into
the spectacular Bitterroot Valley to Hamilton. There you can
continue on north to Missoula or detour nearby to visit the Daly
Mansion, built by the famous Butte Copper King, Marcus Daly.
Visit the nearby historic towns of Philipsburg, Anaconda,
and Butteall
built and inhabited by treasure seekers from another century.
The nearest community to Gem Mountain is
Philipsburg. To learn more about Philipsburg and local businesses
visit the Philipsburg
Chamber of Commerce.
Voted one of America's "Prettiest Painted Places,"
Philipsburg offers a number of lodging and dining opportunites.
If you stay in Philpsburg, for
your evening entertainment we recommend that you take in a show
at the Opera House
Theatre. Recently restored to it's original grandeur,
the historic Opera House Theatre was established in 1891 and
is currently the oldest continually operating theatre in Montana.
Philipsburg offers three lodging choices to meet any style and
pricepoint.
Another
popular option for nearby lodging is located on Rock Creek about
10 miles from Gem Mountain and Philipsburg. For a different kind
of experience, try the Big
Horn Bed & Breakfast 1-406-859-3109, stay@bighornmontana.com.

Gem Mountain is located in "Gold West" Country. For
specific information on Southwest Montana visit www.goldwest.visitmt.com.
While you're in the vicinity, take a break and play golf at nearby
Anaconda's world class Old Works Golf Course designed by Jack
Nicklaus (them golf balls ain't near as shiny as our Montana
sapphires, but they are easier to spot on the
ground).
Walk a spell or saddle up and gawk at the shining big sky and
snowcapped peaks of the Pintlar Mountains. Or swim, boat, or
just relax along the shore of a high mountain lake like nearby
Georgetown Lake, a major regional recreation spot.
